article imageRCMP seek public help to solve murder of 15-year-old Surrey boy

By Marcus Hondro     Dec 15, 2014 in Crime
A Surrey teen was killed in the early hours of Saturday and the RCMP say they are looking for the public to help them in finding those responsible. They are asking anyone who heard or witnessed anything that may be connected to the crime to contact them.
Teens attacked by group of drinkers
Fifteen-year-old Dario Bartoli of Surrey was out at 2:30 a.m. in and around Bakerview Park at 154th and 18th ave. in Surrey when he and a friend, a 14-year-old boy, were attacked by a group of likely four, five or more individuals.
“We believe that it happened outside, the assault took place outside. The two teen victims then fled to a nearby home,” Sgt. Jennifer Pound of IHIT told media.
“We believe there was a group of people hanging around yesterday," Pound added. "We believe there was alcohol consumed which makes our investigation a little bit more difficult in the beginning stages. We are looking to put out a public advisory and reach those who might have some information about this.”
Public help sought by RCMP
Sgt. Pound said that a weapon was used in the deadly attack but did not say what it was. When the two young teens escaped their attackers and made it to the home police were called and Bartoli was taken to Peace Arch Hospital, where he died at about 10:20 a.m. Saturday. The 14-year-old boy sustained only minor injuries and was treated at hospital and released.
Because some or all of the people hanging around in the Bakerview Park area from Friday into the evening and early morning took part in the attack, police are looking for any members of the public who witnessed young people drinking there. People who witnessed young people in or around the park may have information that will lead police to identify one or more of the attackers.
The motive for the attack has not been made public.
