Wyoming - Last week, an eight-months pregnant teenager and her boyfriend were found murdered by a Craigslist user they'd arranged to meet for sex.
According to Wyoming Police, Brooke Slocum, 18, was abducted by Brady Oestrike, 31, and held captive in his home before he strangled her and stashed her body in the trunk of his 2005 Chevy Cobalt.
Her unborn baby, Audi Lynn, also died.
A day earlier, Slocum's boyfriend, Charles Oppenneer, 25, was also found dead in a nearby park. Police say the exact cause of his death are not yet known because his head was removed and has still has not been recovered, but was likely due to head trauma.
After the couple disappeared July 12, police checked the data on Slocum's computer and discovered that she'd arranged a meeting with Oestrike after a brief correspondence through Craigslist. According to the exchange, Oestrike was to meet with the couple for an encounter in which Oestrike would pay Slocum for sex while Oppenneer watched.
E-mail correspondence revealed that the trio would meet at Gezon Park where Oppenneer's body was later found.
Around 9:15 on Thursday, July 17, police obtained a search warrant for Oestrike's house, but Oestrike jumped into his yellow Cobalt and took off before police could question him.
After a high speed police chase, the Cobalt ultimately crashed on the Burton Street entrance ramp to northbound U.S. 131. Rather than give himself up, Oestrike shot himself on the scene.
Slocum's body was found in the trunk of his crashed car.
Back in Oestrike's home, detectives removed over 400 items including restraints and assault rifles.
Investigators are still not calling the case closed as they are not yet sure if there were other victims prior to Slocum and Oppenneer or if Oestrike acted alone.
The motive for the gruesome murders remains unknown.
According to Slocum's father, Greg Slocum, the couple were separated and his daughter was desperate to get back with him.
“To meet men on Craigslist to make some money because her boyfriend was manipulative she would put herself through hell just to make sure her family didn't get divorced,” said Mr. Slocum.
He had warned her many times about meeting men online for sex, which she reportedly had done several times in the past.
According to the Mirror, she kept a diary of letters to her unborn baby in which she tried to justify her habit claiming she just "wanted to be loved."
