It may sound like
Dumber and Dumber but it's no laughing matter.
The 40 year-old vagrant thought he was communicating with a 14-year-old minor from Seminole County, Florida and left his prior residence in Kansas City to meet her. In reality, there was no underage girl; the police force in
Longwood had devised a sting to catch child predators in the act.
Longwood authorities apprehended Lanning at a local gas station, but their second discovery was even more disconcerting. Lanning had supposedly not made any pit stops on his trip to Florida, and resorted to using a bottle to collect his urine; there was an overwhelming stench of human waste permeating from the vehicle.
"It was pretty bad,” remarked Officer Kevin Tuck.
Lanning is being held on the charges of traveling to meet a child for sex and transmitting obscene material to a minor. He is also prohibited from gaining access to a computer or the Internet.
"The internet, it's a highway. It's definitely dangerous and if we are not monitoring what are children are doing we could have these people out there that want to do our children harm," Tuck told reporters.
“If you think you are going to come into the city of Longwood and conduct this illegal activity, you're going to get caught."
