New Orleans - An armed assailant tried to rob a 60-year-old man in New Orleans early Monday morning, but failed when he fell asleep in the middle of his own crime.
Reportedly, Meyagi Baker, 17, approached an unnamed 60-year-old victim and forced him at gunpoint to accompany him to an ATM on 1900 block of Josephine Street.
According to New Orleans police, Baker claimed the man owed him money. Initially, Baker asked him only to withdraw the owed amount. After the man complied, Baker ordered him to turn around and withdraw the rest of what was in his account as well.
The man again complied, but when he turned around to hand Baker the big wad of cash from the ATM, he saw Baker was out cold. He had fallen asleep where he stood.
While Baker was sleeping, the man called the police at approximately 4:20 a.m.
According to, Baker was “arrested afterward and charged with a single count of armed robbery with a firearm, a conviction for which carries a mandatory sentence of 10 to 99 years.”
