article imageMurder suspect who disappeared with 8-year-old girl found dead

By Andrew Dyer     Mar 31, 2014 in Crime
A body found in a Washington-area park is believed to be that of a man suspected of murdering his wife and kidnapping an 8-year-old homeless girl.
According to AP, the body has been tentatively identified as Kahlil Tatum, 51. Tatum was a custodian at a homeless shelter where Relisha Rudd had been residing with her family. She was last seen with Tatum on March 1. When police searched a room in a motel close to the shelter as part of their investigation into Tatum, his wife was found shot to death. Tatum was the main suspect in this murder.
"It appears the person we found here today was, in fact, Mr. Tatum, and it does still appear at this point that this was a suicide," Washington Police Chief Cathy Lanier told a press conference earlier today.
Rudd's family did not report her missing leading to a belated search that began March 19. Her mother refused to believe that Tatum was a threat and said that he had taken her daughter out many times and always brought her back to the shelter.
The search for Relisha Rudd continues.
