article imageMom turned in by 7-year-old son for allegedly cooking meth

By Sean Fraser     Aug 20, 2014 in Crime
Edgewater - A Florida mom faces drug and child neglect charges after her son revealed "mommy's bad stuff" in the trunk of her car to their landlord.
Twenty-six-year-old Briana Buchanan was arrested August 15 and charged with possession and manufacturing of methamphetamine, possession of a listed chemical, and possession and use of narcotic paraphernalia.
Buchanan was caught when her seven-year-old son tipped off their landlord, Peter Arnold, to the contents of his mother's car trunk.
"Her son, who's seven, just told me she keeps bad stuff in her car, and he opened up the trunk and she has a meth lab in her trunk," Arnold said, according to WPTV.
Buchanan's son also admitted how she was able to obtain the ingredients to make the meth, telling Arnold that "Mommy goes to the store and lies to the people, saying she is sick and needs medicine," according to WESH. Arnold then took the son inside and called 911.
Arnold is also Buchanan's boyfriend's brother, and claimed that Buchanan and her son had been staying with him for a month.
Volusia County investigators dismantled the mobile meth lab in the trunk and also found needles and other paraphernalia in Buchanan's home.
Arnold told MyNews13.com that no boy his age should see things like that.
"I can already tell you, just looking at his face, he is relieved to be out of the situation," Arnold said.
Buchanan's son was sent to stay with his grandmother.
