The news was broken by the BBC in the small hours of this morning, Saturday. The young boy disappeared
from his home around 9pm on Wednesday night. Police and local volunteers mounted a massive search; there was speculation that he had somehow wandered off, but crime was not ruled out.
Around 1am, a sombre looking Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham of Police Scotland thanked everyone for their response but said they would no longer be needed to search for the boy. A body had been found, and one person had been "detained".
More information will be released in due course.
