Edinburgh - Police searching for missing toddler Mikaeel Kular have announced that the body of a young child has been found in Fife.
Police Scotland have tonight called a press conference to announce that the body of a young child has been found at a property in Kirkcaldy, Fife, some miles away from his home in Edinburgh. In addition to this a person has been detained and it is believed that the person in custody is his mother, Rosdeep Kular.
The alert for missing Mikaeel Kular was raised not long after his mother failed to find him in his bed on the morning of Thursday January 16th. She had told police that she had put him to bed around 9 p.m. the night before.

The story continued that when she had gone to waken Mikaeel at around 7 a.m. the following morning he was not in his room.
This sparked a major investigation air, sea and land. Police Scotland followed all lines of inquiry including that Mikaeel may have left his home by himself. His jacket, gloves and shoes were reported to be missing from his home.
There was an unconfirmed sighting of Mikaeel in West Pilton Gardens on the morning of Thursday 16th at 8.30 a.m. when members of the public reported seeing a young boy, matching his description running along the street. No adult was seen nearby but CCTV confirmed that a young boy matching this description had been seen but was wearing a hat or cap, something which Police Scotland's Superintendent Liz McAinsh had told reporters was unusual because he didn't like wearing such items and none were reported missing from the property.
