La Plata - A man in Maryland was arrested after he made threats against white residents in La Plata. He made the threats on social media.
The man, Carlos Anthony Hollins, 20, of Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested and charged with threats of mass violence. Hollins allegedly sent out a Tweet on Wednesday, and that Tweet said:
IM NOT GONNA STAND FOR THIS NO. MORE. TONIGHT WE PURGE ! KILL ALL THE WHITE PPL IN THE TOWN OF LAPLATA. #BLACKLIVESMATTER
Hollins is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, and it is not known if he has an attorney. Also, the account that the message was sent from looks as if it has been deleted.
The police department in La Plata took precautions and added extra officers to patrol the area.
La Plata Police Chief Carl Schinner said that a lot of people were calling the department, as there was a lot of concern. He said that Hollins was tracked down thanks to technology and old fashion detective work.
Schinner said that some of the officers did a bit of data mining on Twitter, and they found out the suspect worked at a local department store at one time. From there, officers were able to establish who Hollins was.
Hollins said the Tweet was just a joke when he spoke with investigators.
