Man snapping photo of his first snowfall shot dead in Dallas

By Owen Weldon     Mar 8, 2015 in Crime
Dallas - Ahmed Al-Jumaili, 36, recently moved to Dallas from Iraq, and he was fatally shot while he was taking photos of the first snowfall he had ever seen.
The shooting happened on Wednesday night at an apartment complex. Al-Jumaili moved to the U.S. just three weeks ago.
Alia Salem, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in the Dallas and Fort Worth area, said that there is no shortage of sadness for the young man. CAIR got involved shortly after the shooting, and this is because of a "heightened sense of awareness with regard to hate crimes against Muslims."
Police said the shooting took place shortly after midnight, and Al-Jumaili was with his wife at the time. He was brought to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses said that a group of men started to fire off a gun, and nearby cars were also hit. Police are still investigating the incident and as of now they have no suspects in custody.
Crimestoppers is willing to pay $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
A fundraiser has been setup by friends of Al-Jumaili, and the page tells the love story of him and his wife, who were only married about a year and a half ago. His wife, Zahara, moved to America from Iraq and stayed with her relatives, as she believed it was a safer place to live.
The fundraising page said that it's sad that Zahara will not experience milestones in life with her husband.
