Stamford - A man claiming to not be a fool when asked if there was marijuana on him had 19 bags of weed hiding in his sock during a patdown and now faces additional charges.
Authorities in Connecticut say a man who told his probation officer that he wasn't foolish enough to bring drugs into a courthouse had been hiding 19 bags of pot in his socks.
Darren Shelley had a hearing Monday in the Stamford Superior Court on charges of possession with intent to sell, but the case was postponed until Aug. 7.
Authorities tell The Advocate that the 22-year-old Stamford man reeked of marijuana when he met with his probation officer on June 9th.
When the officer asked about the marijuana, Shelley said he was "not a fool" and "did not bring drugs into the court," at least initially.
The officer revealed the bags of pot during a pat down.
Shelley is being held on a $5,000 bond. He also faces a possible revocation of his probation on charges of risk of injury to a minor.
