The incident occurred a few weeks ago in Fredrick. Police said they received a call for a report of an assault and when they arrived at the scene, a woman told them she saw a man she didn’t know and asked him to watch her dog while she went inside the store.
The woman said the man, who was identified as Edward Lewis Thompson, did watch her dog, but when she returned he allegedly demanded sexual favors from her. Police said that Thompson followed the woman, and eventually grabbed her and demanded sexual favors again.
The woman’s dog ended up getting scared and took off from the scene. The victim managed to get away from Thompson and she phoned the police.
Police reviewed surveillance video, as well as conducted some interviews, and eventually they were able to confirm Thompson’s identity, but he had no fixed address.
Thompson was placed under arrest and he is now facing charges of attempted second degree sex offense, as well as other assault charges.
As for the dog, it wasn’t clear whether or not she managed to get it back.
