Zaragoza - A man has been arrested in Valareña, Zaragoza after allegedly breaking into and robbing the home of a friend, only hours after he and two others died in a serious car crash.
Police in the Zaragoza province of northern Spain released a statement to say that the 25-year-old man was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and burglary. Police found him in possession of a stash of narcotics, as well as several items stolen from the house including two machetes, a helicopter missile and nine rifles.
According to police, they suspect he stole the weapons and drugs from his friend's home, shortly after he and two others died when the car his friend was driving crashed into a ditch. It was shortly after the accident that police were called to investigate the break-in at the deceased driver's home.
After searching the home and investigating possible criminal links between the deceased driver and the suspect, they arrested him and seized the drugs stash, which included almost half a kilogram of marijuana and lesser amounts of both crystal meth as well as the anesthetic ketamine and several packs of marijuana seeds. They also seized a variety of utensils used for the preparation and sale of drugs.
Besides the weapons mentioned above, police also seized a further stash of weapons including two boxes of ammunition, a sawed-off shotgun, twelve knives, three axes, a revolver, a baton, a laser pistol and three pocket knives.
Police are now widening the investigation to establish what other criminal activity the suspect may have been involved in, as it appears he was part of a wider criminal group.
