Anthony Johnson, 26, of Bon Air, Pa., was lodged in jail shortly after midnight Saturday by an undercover police officer whom the suspect had reportedly offered to pay for sex.
The female officer was working a prostitution detail when the suspect drove up to her in a Chevrolet Impala. The pair reportedly conversed for a short time before the suspect offered to pay the woman for sex.
He was arrested without incident.
Inside the vehicle, law enforcement recovered over six grams of crack cocaine and over $4,000 in cash. A trio of cell phones were also found in the car.
Additionally, Mr. Johnson’s seven-year-old son was found sitting in the backseat of the vehicle.
The boy’s mother eventually arrived at the scene to take her son.
The suspect has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession with intent to deliver, patronizing a prostitute and driving on a suspended license.
Mr. Johnson has been lodged in the Allegheny County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
A recent increase in prostitution in the area prompted the police to stage the undercover operation.
Residents in the area told local television crews that they are often able to spot prostitutes walking from their front porches.
