Jian Ghomeshi lawyers given 1,000 pages detailing sex allegations

And more are on the way.

Mr. Ghomeshi was not required to appear in court and he did not do so. He was represented at the proceedings today by Danielle Robitaille, one of the lawyer’s from his firm. Ms. Robitaille told the court that they were aware that there are “remaining items yet to be disclosed.”

For the crown, lawyer Jennifer Armstrong told the court that the case and disclosure were “progressing.” No date for a start of the actual trial was set but another appearance in court by all parties was set for Feb. 26. Mr. Ghomeshi will not be required to appear on that date, either.

Ghomeshi sexual assault allegations

The allegations against the former-CBC broadcaster and host of Q range back over a decade and include the years 2002, 2003 and 2008. There are six accusers to have come forward though only one, actress and army reserve captain Lucy DeCoutere, has agreed to have her name made public.

Other women made anonymous accusations in the media but did not come forward to press charges.

The 47-year-old is now charged with seven counts of sexual assault and one of overcoming resistance by choking. Ghomeshi lawyer Marie Henein has said that her client will be pleading not guilty on all charges. The charges have not been proven in a court of law.

Out on bail of $100,000, Ghomeshi must reside at the home of his mother and had to turn in his passport.
