article imageJava Juggs allegedly sold coffee and sex

By Owen Weldon     Sep 5, 2014 in Crime
Seattle - 'Java Juggs' is a bikini coffee stand, and its owner is being accused of banking more than $2 million over the course of three years because her baristas were selling coffee and sex acts.
On Tuesday Carmela Panico, the owner, plead guilty to charges of promoting prostitution, as well as laundering millions of dollars at her barista coffee stands located throughout Washington State. According to NY Daily News, Panico hired former escorts, as well as strippers, to perform sexual acts for some of the customers that visited 'Java Juggs,' as well as 'Twin Peaks.'
According to Reuters, around $250,000 was seized from Panico's home last year, and that will be forfeited. She also has to surrender the five coffee shops that she owns.
A paralegal with the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said that a plea deal was reached.
Panico also agreed to testify against other people who were involved in her criminal activities. One of those people may include Sgt. Darrell O'Neill, who is being accused of tipping off Panico in exchange for sexual favors. Panico says that she performed sexual acts on O'Neill in exchange for any intel that he had.
Panico will be sentenced sometime in March, and she faces up to a year in jail. However, prosecutors are recommending a two-day sentence, with credit for serving two days.
