Irish burglars find corpses in home they’re robbing, call police

Upon finding the bodies the gang members called the police, but don’t confuse their act as altruism. The gang members were worried about leaving behind forensic evidence, and feared they could have been implicated.

The incident came to light when the burglars called the local police at approximately 3 a.m. to report the bodies. When the police arrived, they found that the bodies of the two individuals were badly decomposed, thus clearing the names of the burglars.

The police are currently awaiting pathology tests to establish how and when the two died. A gun was also legally held in the home, though officials are not yet sure if it was connected to their deaths.

The two, a married couple, were locally known as Thomas Ruttle (56) and Julia Holmes (64).

It turns out that Ms. Holmes, however, has used dozens of different aliases and has spent her life and career as a fraudster. She has more than 20 different convictions for various fraud related crimes on her record.

In 2009 she was sentenced to 21 months in jail following a fraud related conviction. In 2006 she was deported from the United States, following a conviction in a $500,000 dollar property scam.

Ms. Holmes, whose given name was Cecila Julia McKitterick, had fled Northern Ireland in 2011 due to another fraud scheme.

The couple hadn’t been seen since mid-March. Around that times the local media began to report on Ms. Holmes’ past crimes. It has yet to be proven whether these reports were linked to the deaths.

Rumors are circulating, however, that Mr. Ruttle may have murdered his wife when he found out who she really was, and then committed suicide himself.
