article imageIowa man arrested after fight over peanut butter sandwiches

By Natty Walker     Jan 30, 2014 in Crime
Des Moines - A disagreement involving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches was all it took to spark a nearly violent altercation between two brothers in Iowa. One man was taken to jail after threatening the other with a knife.
Jerome Davis was arrested after an alleged altercation with his brother in their Des Moines home. Jerome was charged with domestic abuse with a weapon after "pulling a knife" during their argument about the amount of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches he was eating.
Jerome's brother reportedly told police he was angry because he thought Jerome was eating too many sandwiches. Jerome allegedly made three sandwiches, which he ate in the brothers' living room. Jerome ate another three sandwiches within the next hour, which angered his brother. The two brothers, both in their 50s, proceeded to argue about laziness and overeating. During the argument, Jerome allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and held it to his brother's face, threatening to cut him.
According to USA Today, Jerome allegedly admitted to police that he made threats against his brother because he wouldn't "shut the (expletive) up and mind his own business."
Jerome Davis was taken to Polk County Jail on January 3, 2014. Jail records show he is still in custody on $2,000 bond. A "no contact order" of protection has been issued until the case is resolved.
