Atlanta - A shootout between two men, one of whom had an AK-47 style weapon, was caught by a service station's surveillance camera. A passenger in one of the cars was caught in the crossfire and suffered a gunshot wound.
The shootout took place around 8:30 p.m. Sunday at a Texaco station in Atlanta. Video from the station's surveillance system shows a black Charger parked at the pumps. The driver of the car is seen leaving the convenience store as a second man appears to be going in. Instead of entering the store, the second man, who has a gun in his waistband, begins following the driver. There is no sound on the video but the two men appear to be saying something to each other. The driver quickly opens a rear door of the Charger and brings out what appears to be an AK-47 style weapon and points it at the second man.
The second man, who is standing behind the car, quickly goes down and emerges moving on his back from the other side of the car. It appears he is pleading with the driver not to shoot him. The second man then quickly gets up and runs to the right in front of the Charger and out of camera range. He then fires some shots that can be seen hitting the Charger's windshield. The driver then fires back. It was reported the second man then fled the scene and was last seen getting into a red and black Mazda.
After the gunfire, a woman can be seen getting out of the passenger side of the car. Before she puts her hand on her right shoulder, a small hole can be seen on her top. The driver and the woman then go into the convenience store and reportedly called 911.
ABC Chicago reports the woman was taken to hospital, treated and released.
WGCL reports the surveillance video was posted on World Star Hip Hop and social media sites.
Atlanta police are investigating the matter and are seeking the second man. No arrests have yet been made leading to speculation the driver had a legal right to carry the AK-47 style weapon and that he was justified in firing back after the second man began shooting at him. Police say the statement given to them by the driver was consistent with the video.
The video has since gone viral.
