By Owen Weldon     Oct 1, 2014 in Crime
Caruthers - On September 20, an intruder killed more than 900 birds with a golf club at a Foster Farms chicken shed in Fresno County, California.
Deputies said that the chickens were killed with a golf club, or a similar instrument. A piece of a golf club was found at the scene.
According to ABC, investigators said that the suspects gained entry to the chicken shed after they pulled back some of the fence.
The LA Times Reported that detectives are trying to figure out what the motive was.
Deputy Chris Curtice said whoever committed the act is sick. He went on to say that people should be alarmed at something like this, and that it would have taken a long time to do it. Curtice also said that when someone can cause this much damage to animals, then they want to find out who they are and make sure they are taken off of the street. He described the behavior as "psychopathic behavior."
Investigators are asking members of the public to help them find whoever is responsible. Foster Farms is offering a $5,000 reward for info that leads to an arrest, as well as prosecution.
The company released a statement and said that they treat their birds with compassion and humanely.
