Former ‘Officer of the Year’ admits to producing child porn

Trenton - Michael Grennier, 51, of South Plainfield, pleaded guilty to charges of production of child pornography in federal court. The FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force was credited with the investigation leading to the arrest.
Grennier admitted to offering to buy the girl clothing if she would strip naked and engage in sexual acts while he watch remotely via the internet. According to the complaint filed in federal court, Grennier also paid the girl and a second victim to engage in sexual acts in a hotel room while he watched via webcam. Prosecutors say the criminal conduct spanned several years.
Grennier appeared to be the perfect cop. He had an exemplary record going back a 1980s bust of hackers, two-time “Officer of the Year,” and some sources are reporting that he served as the head of the department’s D.A.R.E youth program.
Grennier faces a 15 year mandatory sentence in federal prison where his status as former law enforcement and a sex offender will render him a target of other inmates. Correctional Officer Lt. Ken Williams was speaking of pedophiles when he told ABC
