article imageFloyd Mayweather confirms he heard Hayes kill Moseley on FaceTime

By Marcus Hondro     Dec 12, 2014 in Crime
Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. told LAPD that he was, as rumored, talking on FaceTime with his friend Earl Hayes when Hayes killed his wife, Stephanie Moseley. He tried to talk him out of it, TMZ reports, but obviously failed. Hayes also shot himself.
Hayes upset over affair
Mayweather Jr. got a call from Hayes at 7 a.m. Monday and Hayes, 36, told him his intentions and said he was calling to say goodbye. Hayes was upset about an affair Moseley was allegedly having, or had, with rapper and singer Trey Songz. The boxer said that he tried to talk him out of the planned murder-suicide.
During their call Mayweather Jr. said Hayes left the area he was speaking to him from and he heard Hayes fire 10 to 12 shots at his wife, who was in the bathtub, killing her.
Mayweather Jr., said that Hayes returned to speaking with him and that he tried to talk Hayes out of killing himself. When the police arrived they say they had to break down the door to the apartment. Once inside they found a bedroom door locked. They heard two shots and when they broke into the bedroom found Hayes dead. They found Moseley's body in the bathtub.
Mayweather Jr.: basketball game night of tragedy
There was an earlier story from TMZ which said Mayweather Jr. "whipped" Hayes "into a frenzy" about his wife's infidelity and told him he was "weak" not to leave her. TMZ writes that when Mayweather Jr. learned his friend intended to murder Moseley he tried to talk him out of it. Mayweather Jr. told police he did not get his friend riled up about Moseley.
That same night, Monday night, hours after the tragedy, Mayweather Jr., who the boxing world is waiting to sign for a fight with Manny Pacquiao, went to a L.A. Clippers basketball game with a female friend; the following night he went to a L.A. Lakers game with his girlfriend, Liza Hernandez.
Hayes, it has been learned, recorded a song in 2010 called Suicide released on a mixtape. In it he raps the line "I could just kill us both, go out with a smash."
Moseley, 30, was an actor and dancer from Canada.
