By Brian Booker     Jun 4, 2015 in Crime
Dallas - A total of five people have been arrested for brutally beating a 14 year old girl for several hours in order to induce an abortion. The girl was allegedly raped by a family member. The assault took place in Dallas, Texas.
The girl was eight months pregnant when several of her family members assaulted her. The alleged attack occurred over the course of approximately six hours and the beating forced the young girl into labor.
After the baby was delivered, family members burned the body on a charcoal grill in an attempt to destroy the evidence.
The girl claims she was sexually assaulted in August of 2012 by a family relative. The girl was a virgin at the time, and was impregnated by the assault. Due to embarrassment, the girl did not report the crime.
Her family did not became aware of the pregnancy until sometime between January and March of 2013. Once they realized that she was pregnant, family members worried that Child Protective Services would become involved with the case.
Sharon Jones, 45, gave the young girl multiple birth control pills, Plan B pills, and other home remedies in an effort to induce abortion. These efforts failed, so family members resorted to even more barbaric methods.
Apparently, Cecilia McDonald, 25, pinned the girl down while Lonnell McDonald, 27, jumped up and down on her stomach. The beating occurred over the course of six hours.
Eventually, the girl began to bleed heavily, and gave birth to a stillborn baby. After failing to completely destroy the body by burning it on a charcoal grill, Sharon Jones paid Cedric Jones $25 dollars to dispose of the remains.
Five people have been arrested so far in connection to the case. They remain locked up at Dallas Country jail.
After the girl recovered from the assault, she moved out of her cousin's house and moved in with a friend. She is now being cared for by Child Protective Services, which has also removed six other children from the custody of the alleged attackers.
The case is only now coming to light after another woman helped the girl file the report. The woman apparently witnessed at least part of the attack.
Many sexual assault victims decline to report their assaults due to fear, embarrassment, and the stigma associated with such attacks.
