Nebraska police are still searching for the five-year-old brother, Josue Ramirez-Marinero. Martinez-Marinero admitted to throwing the boy off a bridge into the Elkhorn River.
The body of the mother, Jesus Ismenia Marinero, 45, was found in a ditch near Fourth and Cedar Streets. The one-year-old, Angel, was found in a dumpster outside the family’s apartment complex in La Vista, a suburb of Omaha, alive, wearing nothing but a soiled diaper.
Omaha police are conducting a ground, air and water search along the Elkhorn River south of the Highway 275/92 bridge and are being helped by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, according to Omaha.com.
A girlfriend of Ramirez-Marinero, 24-year-old Gabriela Guevara, was charged on Friday with assisting a homicide.
Teresa Rivera-Avelar, a friend of the mother who also babysat for her while she worked a seven-day-a-week job at a Con Agra Foods production facility, said she thinks more people are involved. “I think there is more trouble to come,” she said.
Omaha police are saying Marinero and her boys disappeared on Tuesday. Mrs. Marinero was on a weeks vacation from her job and would not have been missed. Rivera-Avelar says saw them on Tuesday over lunch where they shared fish soup, Marinero’s favorite.
Rivera-Alvelar also told police that Marinero had told her two weeks ago that if anything happened to her, to look after her children. The mother would only say there were “family problems.” The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
