Montreal - On Tuesday evening, a dramatic hit and run, as well as police chase, took place in the Montreal neighborhood of Rosemont.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m., when police received a call about a car that was speeding down Viau Street. The speeding car ended up rear-ending a vehicle, and it also struck a park car near Saint-Zotique Street East.
The driver ended up losing control of his vehicle and the vehicle ended up flipping over. Before police arrived at the scene, the man ran off. Shortly after that, the same man allegedly carjacked a motorist.
The vehicle that was stolen was taken at the corner of Chapman Street and 33rd Ave., and cops did find the car but the man took off again. Officers were able to catch him and place him under arrest.
A woman was injured as a result of the incident, but she was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for whiplash. She also escaped with non life-threatening injuries.
Officers said the 33-year-old man, who was not identified, appeared under the influence of drugs. They added that the suspect was aggressive and he was taken in and will questioned by investigators.
The suspect is expected to face robbery and dangerous driving charges.
