article imageDad attacks 11-year-old accused of bullying his 9-year-old son

By Owen Weldon     Jun 3, 2014 in Crime
A furious dad escorted his nine-year-old son, who is autistic, onto a school bus last week. Once on the bus, he allegedly beat up an 11-year-old who has reportedly been bullying his son.
According to DailyCaller, the incident occurred in Richmond, California, on Friday morning.
According to CBS, the father, Burnis Hurd, 44, grabbed the boy by his hair and pulled hard, raising the child out of his seat. Hurd then shoved him to the side of the bus where the wall and the windows meet.
The 11-year-old suffered a cut to his earlobe, as well as to his cheek. Hurd also used threatening language and threatened to kill the student.
According to WWLP, Hurd was arrested and charged with felony assault, more specifically for inflicting injury on a child.
Officials at the school say that the bus driver did intervene and stopped the attack, but when they kids were dropped off at school they did not alert the staff. The principal of the school said that she learned about the incident from the child that was attacked.
The principal, Kim Moses, said that she immediately called the boy's guardian and the police. She said that she can tell that the boy had been crying when he approached her, but he wasn't crying when he came to her office.
Hurd was jailed, and his bail was set at $50,000. He was drunk when the incident occurred, but he said that he was just tired of his son being bullied, and he thought that the right thing to do was to confront the youth that he felt was responsible for the bullying.
