DA: Woman posed as ex’s wife, put fantasy rape ads on Craigslist

Michelle Suzanne Hadley, 29, faces numerous charges after it was alleged she stalked her ex-boyfriend’s pregnant wife despite being bound by a restraining order and even after she was arrested and released on bail.

According to a press release issued by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, it is alleged Hadley had a romantic relationship with a U.S. Marshals Service Agent between 2013 and 2015. After the couple broke up, the former boyfriend married his current wife who is now pregnant with their first child.

It is alleged Hadley sent the wife several emails threatening both her and her unborn child and posted rape fantasy ads on Craigslist. According to the DA’s office, the 29-year-old used several different computers and servers in order to attempt to avoid detection. On June 6, Hadley was served with a protection order requiring her to have no contact with the other woman. Hadley was later arrested and charged with breaching that order and was released on $100,000 bail.

CBS reports after she was released from custody, Hadley continued stalking and threatening her ex-boyfriend’s wife. The threats became more violent and she continued to post fantasy ads on Craigslist in the name of her ex-boyfriend’s wife. She posted the woman’s address in Anaheim on the Craigslist ads. The ads told men to go to woman’s home at times when Hadley knew she would be alone. The men were told the woman wanted to engage in rape fantasies and they should have forcible sexual intercourse with her even if she protested.

Several men responded to the ad and one managed to attack the pregnant woman before she had a chance to get help.

Hadley was arrested again last Thursday. She faces one count each of felony stalking with a restraining order, felony stalking, felony criminal threats, felony assault with intent to commit a sexual offence, and one count of misdemeanor violation of a protective order. She has also been charged with six counts of felony forcible rape.

Hadley appeared in court on Monday and bail was set at $1 million. She is due back in court on Aug. 19. Prosecutors are seeking a sentencing enhancement because some of the offences occurred while she was out on bail and if convicted, she faces a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
