Heihe - A Chinese drug company has reported that its chief executive has jumped to his death. The CEO was under investigation on suspicion of taking bribes.
Sanjing Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. Have announced that its CEO, Liu Zhanbin, jumped from a third-floor bathroom window in Xunke County in Heihe City where he was receiving medical treatment. According to GB Times, Zhanbin was under the protection of court guards at the time, following his recent arrest.
Sanjing quickly followed by adding that the company (the full title is Harbin Pharma Group Sanjing Pharmaceutical Shareholding Co.) has appointed an interim CEO and that Liu's death has no impact on its operations. China Economic Net indicates that the replacement is Liu Fengchun, director and general manager of Sanjing Pharmaceutical, will temporarily perform Liu Zhanbin's duties.
Liuzhan Bin was born in 1963 in Heilongjiang Province. In 1987 he graduated from the Medical College of Pharmacy , Jiamusi.
The government's China News Service and the Communist Party newspaper People's Daily have reported that Liu was under investigation on suspicion of taking bribes. However, no further details of the investigation have been provided.
The Chinese government has recently launched an investigation of drug companies as part of efforts to improve health care and rein in drug prices. Digital Journal has reported on some of these cases, such as the arrest of the co-founders of a business advisory company that has worked with GlaxoSmithKline.
