According to
CBS, the incident occurred on Saturday night at Times Square.
Police say that the brawl started after Thomas Rorke, 23, heckled the men. Police say that Rorke, of Breezy Point, was then struck numerous times, and he suffered facial injuries.
Rorke, as well as Jose Escalona-Martinez, 41, and Abdel Elkahezai, 35, were all charged with misdemeanor assault, according to
NBC.
According to
Inquisitr, Rorke allegedly went up to Batman and started to straddle him from behind. He also allegedly shouted that he was "going to have sex" with Batman.
That's when Spider-Man stepped in and Rorke allegedly grabbed his butt. Rorke was then pummeled by the two men. Escalona-Martinez and Elkahezai were also punched during the fight.
One of the men said that he thinks that sometimes pedestrians forget that they are people, and they start to heckle and harass the costumed panhandlers. Elkahezai was released, and Escalona-Martinez was held in lieu of $750 bail.
Some say that many in NYC are sick of being pestered for money by the costumed characters in Times Square.
