Epsom - Shane Coffey, 20, traveled from Weymouth, Massachusetts to the U.K. to try to kill his ex-girlfriend, who ended the long distance relationship.
The incident took place earlier this year on Good Friday and Coffey will be sentenced later this week.
Coffey admitted to trying to kill 18-year-old Farha Dowlut after he flew to the U.K. and broke into her house in Epson, Surrey. He ended up stabbing her a number of times, and her brother Mohammad also suffered knife wounds when he rushed to Farha's aid.
David Shore, Coffey's father, said that his son had a girlfriend online, and she broke up with him last Christmas. Shore continued to say that this may have angered him.
Shore said that he really doesn't know what happened after she broke up with him, except that his son broke into her home and tried to kill her.
The siblings were taken to the hospital, where they were treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
After the incident happened, police in Weymouth searched Coffey's home. They were looking for evidence on behalf of British authorities.
Shore said authorities should be able to tell him if his son is OK, but they have only given him a little information. He added that he doesn't even know what sort of jail time he is looking at.
A Surrey police spokesman said that they made initial contact with a member of Coffey's family, back when they started their investigation in April.
