Police were called to a location in Berkley, a suburb of Norfolk, Virginia, shortly after 6 p.m. yesterday. When officers arrived they found three men in a car suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The three men, all in their late 20s, were taken to hospital and according to police, two of the three have life-threatening injuries while the third man’s injuries are serious.
At the time of the shooting, one of the men, T.J. Williams, was sitting in the passenger seat livestreaming on Facebook. The men are listening to music and then about 30 shots rang out. As soon as the shooting began, the camera fell to the floor. But voices of passers-by and emergency personnel can be heard as the camera continued to record.
Daniel Hudson, a spokesperson with the Norfolk Police Department, confirmed the shooting officers went to was the same one that appeared on Facebook Live. The shooting occurred at the same location as that given by a person who can be heard on the video talking to a 911 dispatcher.
As WTKR reports, someone, presumably one of the victims, yells for someone to call 911, saying they need an ambulance because “there’s three of us shot.”
Others, people who were at the scene, can be heard on the video. One man tells one of the victims to take his hand and says it will be okay, “they are coming to get you.” He then tells all three to keep their eyes open and listen to his voice.
This is not the first time someone has been shot while livestreaming. Last month, Antonio Perkins was livestreaming while on a Chicago street with his kids and some friends when he was shot to death.
Norfolk police have no word on suspects and are appealing to the public for help.
