Chiropractic colleges, hundreds of chiropractic clinics, and advocacy groups around the world are helping the non-profit Oklahaven Children's Chiropractic Center by participating in the Have-A-Heart Campaign during Valentine's Day week, February 7-15.
The Center is an internationally recognized organization in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA. It has never received State, federal, or United Way funding and since 1962, has helped children due to the generosity of private donations.
The children that Oklahaven serve range from newborns to teenagers and come from all over the world. The Center specializes in the very sick and neurologically damaged who suffer form a multitude of neurological problems. Birth trauma, nursing difficulties, colic, projectile vomiting, acid reflux, intestinal problems, allergies, asthma, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, heart disorders, Down syndrome, failure to thrive, developmental delays, and cerebral palsy are just a few of the conditions that have been successfully treated at the Center. Many parents burdened with medical debts totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars come to Oklahaven as their last hope.
Dr. Bobby Doscher is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Center and during her thirty year tenure with the clinic, has frequently lectured at chiropractic colleges throughout the world. She has also been a speaker at numerous national and international conferences, and has been invited to treat children in Jordan, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, Australia and across the U.S.
A League of Chiropractic Women Spouse Member in Italy volunteered to participate in this year's Have-A-Heart campaign by offering to show those interested a 12-minute DVD that the Center has provided her with. The DVD explains the Center's mission through moving testimonials of parents whose children have been successfully treated and includes photos and video footage of these families.
