Photo essay: There’s nothing like summer in Paris (Includes first-hand account)

Paris was one of my stops during a recent European adventure, which saw me travel to hot destinations such as London, Geneva and Berlin. Paris gave me a thorough glimpse on her history and dedication to architectural beauty, something I sorely miss by living in Toronto.

In this photo essay, you’ll see where I visited, what fascinated me and which culinary delights I sampled during my 72 hour journey.

My impression overall? Paris is a city soaked in historical significance, whether it were the ornate sculptures placed along La Seine or the awe-inspiring Arc de Triomphe. When I visited the Eiffel Tower, the photograph I took facing up through its guts filled me with wonder. How could someone design such a masterful piece of art?

Wandering the streets of Paris felt oh so appropriate this summer. The sun was blazing, nary a cloud in the sky, and everyone seemed in good spirits. What I admire about the French people is their laissez-faire attitude: they don’t seem very anxious or stressed, what with their hour-long lunches, smoke breaks and outdoor cafe socializing. Let’s just say my friends made sure I partook in the daily tradition of a 4 p.m. cheese-and-wine snack, which I never objected to.

Or it could be the sun. What’s Paris like in the winter? If you know, fill us in the comment section below.
