Eindhoven - Eindhoven is a city in the Netherlands. It is associated with industry and art, and is the home town of the Dutch electronics company Philips. This October, Digital Journal was in town.
When "Holland" (or more accurately "The Netherlands") is mentioned, this tends to conjure up images of windmills, cows, or the more liberal offerings of Amsterdam. There is more to the country than this. One city, Eindhoven is a modern hub for industry, commerce and the arts.

The city had a population of 221,402 in 2014. This makes it the fifth-largest city of the Netherlands. Eindhoven is one of the co-location centers of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

The city is synonymous with the electronic company Philips. Philips was founded as a company to manufacture light bulbs in the late nineteenth century. The company went on to become one of the largest manufacturers of consumer goods in the world. While most of Philips' industries have moved out, the Philips Design Bureau and museum is still in Eindhoven.

The Philips museum in Eindhoven. The company was founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik. It is one of the largest electronics companies in the world and employs around 122,000 people across more than 60 countries.
One striking feature about Eindhoven is the amount of public art on display. There are many statues that line the city streets.
