Kansas City - The Verrückt in Kansas City is the world's largest water slide. Now it has finally been finished and you can get some idea of how thrilling it could be by watching the attached video.
In German Verrückt refers to "crazy," "insane" or "being crazy" depending on the context. You could certainly consider someone willing to slide down 17 stories either of those words. This massive structure towers into the sky and can handle multiple riders at once.
The structure was built over time by Schlitterbahn Waterparks. In a company that is known for pushing the envelope this new Verrückt has become their signature attraction. Riders will reach speeds of 65 miles-per-hour as they plunge down the absolutely massive structure.
Various media have taken a major interest in the project all the way through. As far as the general public reviews for the park have been quite mixed. Some people love it, others hate the lines and a few more complain about safety. So far this has done little to derail their operations.
Safety is one thing that the operators will constantly have to work on for this immense attraction. Other, smaller slides have led to tragedy in the past. If one of this size were to fall into disrepair and collapse the results could be catastrophic. As of now everything is working right and visitors are greatly enjoying what is no doubt a terrifying ride.
