Huntington - On April 12, Queens author Shari Bitterman hosted a reading and book signing for her brand new children's book, "Simon the Snail."
This event took place at the Book Revue, located in Huntington, New York, where she was joined with fellow elementary school teachers and fans of children's literature.
Bitterman noted that she was "overwhelmed" with all of the support, and for the great turnout of the event.
The book deals with Simon, a snail who is different from the other snails his age, but thanks to his family's love and support, our main character is able to overcome adversity and the hardships that he faced from his classmates in school.
Simon the Snail garnered a favorable review from Digital Journal, which subsequently proclaimed it as "one of the best children's books of 2017." The book's vibrant illustrations were done in watercolor by illustrator Shanté Clair.
Author Shari Bitterman sat down and chatted with Digital Journal about her new kid's book, and her inspiration behind it.
