The London Fashion Weekend Festival (formerly just ‘London Fashion Weekend’) has been taking place at its new venue, The Store Studios, located at 180 Strand in London.
The event showcases the latest trends (some of which are featured in part 2 of this article) and new designers like Osman, Mother of Pearl, Teatum Jones and Huishan Zhang. Digital Journal attended the Zhnag catwalk where his line of clothes fit for spring debuted.
Huishan Zhang was born in Qingdao, China. He left the country aged 17 and went to New Zealand and, later, Paris. A few years later Zhang moved to London, gaining a scholarship at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design (from which many a top designer has heralded).
While studying in London, Zhang was selected by Delphine Arnault for an internship at the House of Dior, in Paris.
Here Zhnag spent time working in leather goods as well as Dior’s Haute Couture Atelier.
Today Huishan is based in London and has his own range of clothes. These are based on what has become his signature style, where his national identity plays a strong part. These are vibrant, fresh and exciting.
Much of Zhang’s range seeks to combine Eastern heritage with Western influences. Youthful looking ruffles, lace, and fondant dresses were modeled in fine style, capturing a sublime elegance and gracefulness.
The collection meanders from the romantic.
To the sophisticated.
Where distinct feminine details, strong lines and directional design feature strongly.
Together with the latest designers there are a number of fashion outlets selling a variety of clothes and accessories.
The event also features make-up studios and nail bars.
Plus various pop-up bars and champagne spots.
