article imagePoll: Two percent of French women willing to go topless at beach

By Owen Weldon     Sep 14, 2014 in Lifestyle
A poll, conducted by Elle magazine, revealed that as few as two-percent of women under the age of 35 are willing to bare their breasts at the beach.
The poll was conducted over the summer, according to NewsOK. One woman said that it is seen as vulgar, and another woman said that she has never done and that she'd be too embarrassed.
According to AOL, one sunbather said that another reason why more women are not going topless is because of camera phones and social media. They said that nobody wants their breasts put all over sites such as Instagram and Facebook.
A beach monitor said that he sees a lot of men loitering around the beach, and he has to stop them from snapping photos of women. He said that this happens all the time.
Elle claims that health concerns contribute to the unpopularity of going topless, according to Newser. More people are aware of dangers such as skin cancer.
Jean-Clade Kauffman, an author, said that France has been hit hard by austerity. Kauffman continued to say that people tend to dress more conservatively in uncertain times. She said that covering up is a sign of safety if baring your breasts is a sign of revolution and a sign of risk.
