Savannah - The 2014 festival featured best-selling authors and home-grown celebrities. Fans of writers such as Mitch Albom, the Deen brothers, A. Scott Berg, Melanie Benjamin, and Wally Lamb came to the "Hostess City of the South" to meet their favorite authors.
Renowned authors Scott Turow and Mitch Albom kicked-off the 7th Annual Savannah Book Festival.
The 2014 festival, held February 13-16, showcased dozens of authors during Festival Day, Feb. 15. The writers presented their works in venues in and around Telfair Square and Wright Square in historic downtown Savannah.
On this sunny but cool day, best-selling authors could be found in the Trinity United Methodist Church, in the Author Signing Tent, and walking in the squares visiting with fans and each other.
Nancy Horan, along with Alice Hoffman, Robin Cook, Wally Lamb, Anita Shreve, and C.J. Box, presented their works to capacity crowds in the beautiful sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church.

On Saturday afternoon, fans were in line to have their books signed by A. Scott Berg, Hugh Howey, Melanie Benjamin and other authors in the signing tent.

According to the SBF, Howey is the "author of the post-apocalyptic Silo novels that have drawn comparisons to The Hunger Games. Dust, the third installment, was published in August 2013."

This year's Special Celebrity Book Signing featured TV chefs, brothers, and Savannah natives Bobby Deen and Jaime Deen. Bobby's cookbook Bobby Deen's Everyday Eats is now on sale as is Jaime's Good Food, a beautiful look at family recipes and traditions.

Many Savannah Book Festival attendees enjoyed the delicious ice cream from Leopold's Ice Cream. Owner Stratton Leopold stopped by the stand on Saturday afternoon. Leopold's invited everyone to "Visit us in Telfair Square on Saturday February the 15th or at the shop" on Broughton Street.

Other authors were seen out and about during the Savannah Book Festival including Wally Lamb, local writer Glenn T. Eskew who is the author of Johnny Mercer: A Southern Songwriter to the World, and Beatles v. Stones author John McMillian.

The 2014 Savannah Book Festival culminates the afternoon of Feb. 16 with a closing address by Dr. Eben Alexander. For those unable to attend the festival but are interested in hearing what the authors had to say, BookTV was filming live and segments can be viewed on C-SPAN.
