Parents investigated after their kids, 10 and 6, walk home alone

The incident occurred back on December 20, when the couple, Danielle and Alexander Meitiv, let their two young kids walk home from a Silver Spring park about a mile away from their home.

The Meitiv’s said that they plan on not backing down from the fight for their kids’ freedom.

The couple describe themselves as ‘free range parents,’ which is a movement that encourages parents to let their kids have more space to make their own mistakes, as well as their own decisions.

According to Fox, police stopped the two kids when someone called them and reported seeing them. The police returned the kids home and reportedly talked to the Metiv’s about the dangers of the world.

The Montgomery County Child Protective Services followed up and they had the couple sign a safety plan that acknowledged that they wouldn’t let their kids go unsupervised. Alexander refused at first, but signed after he was told the kids would be removed if it wasn’t signed.

The case is still ongoing, but Alexander and Danielle plans on meeting with the CPS sometime next week.
