Preston - Marco Robinson, a millionaire from England who used to sleep rough on the streets, is giving away an entire fully-furnished home for free.
Robinson, 48, is offering the £120,000 ($150,000) three-bedroom apartment to a suitable family or individual. The apartment comes with no mortgage. The father of two currently owns 150 properties around the world, including a top-floor apartment in Preston, Lancashire.
He's working on a documentary and over the course of six weeks, he will decide who will get the apartment. Robinson said the type of people he wants to live in the flat are the ones who need a home and some security.
The millionaire spent his childhood sleeping on park benches. He said he asked for help and he received it from unlikely people. Robinson added that he has been successful in business and made a lot of money.
He said he started investing his profits and learned where the best places to buy were. The reason he's giving away one of his properties is because he wants to give someone a lucky break, just as he was given when he was first starting out.
Robinson said the biggest challenge was going to be choosing one person from so many people. So far, he's been talking with homeless and community groups, as well as locals, such as shopkeepers, to know what the situation is like on the ground.
He said he knew there were issues with affordability because people couldn't manage to save up a deposit in order to get a foot on the housing ladder.
