This event raised awareness for the Suffolk Aspergers/Autism Support & Information (SASI), and it raised funds for the nonprofit organization. Priscilla Arena serves as the executive director of SASI, which she co-founded with her partner Stephanie Mendelson.
Legislator Anker remarked, “Priscilla is one of my closest friends. She is so phenomenal. She started SASI less than a year and a half ago, and she started with just a handful of people, and now you have 1,500 people as part of the organization. It’s an organization that is so much needed. It offers local support for the issue of autism, and it helps parents with services and educational needs. They have so many stories that they want to share. Instead of getting frustrated and mad that things are not getting done, they have turned that energy in something so positive. We are seeing so many people tonight supporting the cause. It is important to get the word out. SASI is here but they need financial help and volunteers, and people to be engaged in this issue of autism.”
Priscilla Arena chatted about SASI at “The Blue Party” event with Digital Journal.
