91-year-old fulfills wish of crashing vehicle through a garage

Walter Thomas of Woodstock was able to crash a vehicle through a one-car garage. The 1998 Isuzu Rodeo was provided by a local auto body shop. The garage belonged to Brian Thomas’s, his other grandson, friends. The garage was going to be torn down, as part of a renovation project. Also, a few cuts were made to make sure that it fell apart when Thomas crashed through it.

The stunt took place last Sunday, and Thomas said he has always wanted to do this.

A small crowd that included his family and friends, including Dorothy, his wife of 70 years, watched Thomas perform the stunt. He also wore a helmet for protection, and Andrew Thomas, his grandson, got into the passenger seat to join his grandfather.

Walter credited his grandchildren for putting the stunt together and that he appreciated that everyone got together to think about him.

The video, which is just under a minute long, was uploaded to YouTube on June 3rd, and as of now it has almost 330K views, more than 1,000 likes and more than 90 comments. The majority of the comments appear to be positive and supportive.
