National Pink Day is Monday, June 23 in the U.S. The color pink represents breast cancer and the day is aimed at raising breast cancer awareness.
Although October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a new date has been added to the calendar aimed at raising cancer awareness. National Pink Day is aimed at reminding everyone about the importance of breast health and to encourage people to play an active role in raising awareness.
One organization, the Women’s Breast Health Initiative, Florida Affiliate (WBHI) is using Facebook to promote awareness. The group is asking people to take their best pink-wearing photos and to post them onto their Facebook page.
Other social media are also being used to help raise awareness, as the group points out: "veryone can participate. Share your support on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag, #NationalPinkDay and #NationalPinkDayWBHI. Your participation will help raise awareness of the day and of the importance of preventive care and screening for breast cancer."
Women’s Breast Health Initiative, Florida Affiliate, is a non-profit organization that provides critical information and screenings to women in South Florida.
