By Karen Graham     Oct 11, 2015 in Health
Houston - Houston, Texas-based TF Supplements has voluntarily recalled all of their Rhino 7 3000 and Rhino 7 Platinum 3000 capsules because they contain unapproved new drugs, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The products under the recall are as follows: RHINO 7 3000 capsules packaged in a bottle containing six (6) capsules UPC: 616453150126 ALL LOT NUMBERS WITHIN EXPIRY, and Rhino 7 Platinum 3000 Capsules packaged in a single (1) blister packs hang card count UPC: 700729253748 ALL LOT NUMBERS WITHIN EXPIRY.
Rhino 7 is a supplement that can be bought over the counter without a doctor's prescription, and is used to supposedly increase male sexual enhancement, providing longer and better erections. It is also advertised as being all natural.
An FDA analysis found the products contain two undeclared drugs, desmethyl carbondenafil and dapoxetine. This is contrary to the Rhino 7 list of ingredients that is supposed to be "all natural," containing; Matrimony vine Extract, Codonopsis pilosula Extract, Atractylodes, Cinnamon Bark, Dismutase, Cornus, Cuscuta, Angelica sinensis, Licorice, Condonopsis, Cordyceps Sinensis, Rubus, Panax Ginseng, Pueraria Lobata and Superoxide Dismutase.
Desmethyl carbondenafil is a phosphodiesterase PDE-5 inhibitor, and belongs to a class of drugs used to treat male erectile dysfunction. This is an undeclared drug. Desmethyl carbondenafil may pose a threat to consumers because this PDE-5 inhibitor can interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, causing a drop in blood pressure to levels that can be life-threatening.
Dapoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) being tested for the treatment of premature ejaculation and has not been approved by the FDA for that particular purpose. SSRI's are widely used to treat depression. In studies, these drugs have been shown to increase the incidence of suicidal thoughts in children, adolescents and young adults. According to the FDA, this drug could also present a health risk that could be life-threatening.
