Those infected include 23 students and a staff member at the
university in Columbus, Ohio, and four other people with connections to students or community.
A CDC expert on mumps and other communicable diseases, Dr. Gregory Wallace, said people who are vaccinated may still get the mumps.
According to a 2012
study in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), an outbreak of mumps in the United States between 2009 and 2010 occurred mostly in children who had been vaccinated.
