article imageMan becomes organ donor, shoots himself in the head

By Anne Sewell     Apr 15, 2014 in Health
Valencia - A 50-year-old man walked into University Hospital La Fe in Valencia, Spain on Monday morning with a revolver hidden in his belt. After applying to become an organ donor, he committed suicide in the bathroom.
The man walked into the transplant unit and approached two nurses, telling them he wished to donate blood. He then asked for a card in order to sign up as an organ donor.
While the nurses informed him of the medical protocol involved, one of them happened to notice the gun he had concealed under his clothing. However, before they had the chance to call security, the man insisted he wanted to speak to the head of the hospital’s transplant unit and refused to let the nurses leave the room.
Changing his tactics, he then calmly asked where the toilets were and walked out. Moments later a gunshot was heard. Staff ran into the toilets to find that the man had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
A police report stated that the man had an Olympic firearms license and that he could be a medical professional. Officials have apparently found a video recording at his home in which he apparently explains the reasons for his suicide. These reasons have not, as yet, been released to the media.
