As well as sounding the stock market bell, ITUS Corporation is spearheading a new social media campaign called “Let’s Get Crack’n Against Cancer”. The purpose of the “Let’s get Crack’n” campaign is to create a sense or urgency in the ongoing cancer healthcare battle (for the U.S.) and to re-energize cancer research.
The campaign is being led by Robert Berman, the President and CEO of ITUS and Dr. Arnold Baskies, the Vice Chairman of the National Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of ITUS.
As well as advertising and prompting anti-cancer research, ITUS is developing a blood test for the early detection of tumor based cancers.
As part of the social media initiatives, the “Let’s Get Crack’n Against Cancer” campaign is asking the public to post videos to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, indicating why Cancer Counts to them, by cracking eggs marked with the word “cancer”. The twitter feed has already started to garner related tweets and images.
Discussing the background to the campaign, Robert Berman, indicated: “Cancer has devastated us for so long that it is most often associated with feelings of fear, trepidation, and apathy. However, changes in how we approach cancer are on the way that have the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes and that will finally give us the upper hand.”
He proceeded to expand on the importance of the social media element: “We need to begin to change the perceptions about cancer and engage in a national cancer dialogue so that innovations happen faster, and people are prepared to embrace these changes.”
