article imageUnited Kingdom is now included in U.S. frozen vegetables recall

By Karen Graham     May 22, 2016 in Food
The frozen food recall that started out in the U.S. on April 23 with the recall of 15 frozen organic vegetable products, has taken on a life of its own, growing to include hundreds of products. The recall has now spread to the United Kingdom.
CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is where this monstrously huge recall started back in April, and now, not only does the recall involve the U.S., but Canada, Mexico and now the United Kingdom.
On May 10, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in the U.K., the equivalent of our FDA or USDA, reported that Costco Wholesale had recalled its Organic by Nature Organic Vegetable Medley as a precautionary measure due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The product description is as follows: Organic by Nature Vegetable Medley Pack size: 2.5kg, and a "best before" date of 7 February 2017.
The FSA said that Costco had recalled the batch as a precautionary measure and has sent a letter to all its member customers who bought the product, explaining why the product has been recalled and the actions members or 'add-on members' were to take if they have bought the affected product.
On May 22, Food Safety News reported that Costco has updated its recall notice in the U.K. to include its Dr. Praeger’s brand Frozen Organic Veggie Burger that covers three different lots because the products might contain Listeria monoctyogenes.
The products under this expanded recall include:
Brand name: Dr. Praeger’s
Product: Frozen Organic Veggie Burger
Pack size: 12-pack box
"Best before" date: 11 December 2015
Lot code: W14BB
Brand name: Dr. Praeger’s
