On Saturday, January 23, 2015, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) issued an update advising Canadians not to consume packaged salads products from the Dole processing plant in Springfield, Ohio. A food recall warning has been issued from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
According to the Food Safety News, Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. has issued a recall of various pre-packaged chopped salads, salad blends and kits, and leafy green products distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Possibly National, Prince Edward Island, Quebec.
In the PHAC update, citizens were advised not to consume packaged salad products that have been processed at the Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio. The Dole products can be identified by the letter “A” at the beginning of the manufacturing code found on the package.
On January 22, Food Safety News reported that based on epidemiological evidence, seven cases of Listeria monocytogenes infection were confirmed across five provinces related to this current outbreak: Ontario 3, Quebec 1, New Brunswick 1, Prince Edward Island 1 and Newfoundland and Labrador 1.
On January 22, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that laboratory analysis had confirmed the link between the Listeria outbreak in the U.S. and the Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio. At that time, Digital Journal was reporting three Canadian provinces were affected by the Dole recall.
The products listed below may have been repackaged or transformed into various in-store produced products, such as in-store made salads. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected products are advised to contact the retailer.
